Trump booed by supporters after defending vaccine in Alabama – 8/24/21 – World

Former US President Donald Trump was booed at a rally in Alabama after urging people to get vaccinated against Covid-19. The state has the lowest rate of people vaccinated in the country, with just 36% of the population fully immunized, far below the 52.1% of the national average.

At the event, which took place this Saturday (21), Trump told supporters he believes in personal freedoms, but recommends vaccination. “I took. It’s good. Take the vaccines,” he said.

After being booed by a largely unmasked section of the public, he said, “No, it’s okay. Its good. You have your freedoms. But I ended up getting vaccinated. If that doesn’t work, you’ll be the first to find out. OKAY?”

And he added: “[A vacina] it works. But you have your freedoms to keep.

State with the lowest vaccination rate in the country, Alabama faces a high number of hospitalizations for Covid, with a lack of vacancies in intensive care units. The health authorities qualify this phase of contamination during which nearly 100% of hospitalizations and deaths due to the disease concern unvaccinated people as a “pandemic of the unvaccinated”.
