PSI-20 accumulates third highest and returns to March highs

The Portuguese stock market closed higher again and racked up the third consecutive session in green, returning to March highs, a day when the energy sector continued to post strong gains.

On Thursday 24th, the PSI-20 closed at 0.61%, at 4,854.90 points, the highest value since early March.

The energy sector mainly contributed to the gains of the national stock exchange, with a focus on Galp. The oil company gained 1.69% to 8.80 euros per share and accumulates the third session on the rise. Still in energy, EDP rose 1.41% and EDP Renováveis canceled its losses with the opening of the session and ended up closing 0.68% at 22.3 euros per share, renewing highs historical.

The PSI-20 was boosted by BCP, which rose 1.56% to 12 cents per share, and Corticeira Amorim, which rose 1.73%, to € 10.56 per share.

Monta-Engil, which lost 0.58% to 1.36 euros per share, prevented larger gains from PSI-20, as well as the paper sector, with Navigator and Semapa closing both.

In the rest of Europe, the trend is also for gains, at a time when investors are excited by the post-Brexit agreement reached between the European Union and the United Kingdom.
