Actress Sophia Bush, who starred in the adolescent cult film One Tree Hill, recently tied the knot at Tulsa, Oklahoma’s Philbrook Museum of Art. The happy bride posted a picture of herself on Instagram in her stunning off-the-shoulder flowery dress. On the occasion of her big day, Bush told Vogue, “I have genuinely never felt so much optimism at once, so much clarity.” Grant Hughes, Bush’s new husband, shared her joy at the successful conclusion of the ceremony. As it turns out, Bush and Hughes had known one other for a very long time and were good friends before their relationship blossomed into something more serious.
How did they meet?
Bush met Hughes, a real estate investor and businessman, ten years ago during a trip to Nicaragua. While they were already friends, their feelings for one another bloomed during lockdown when they began discussing books they had enjoyed and ways they might help others. In the summer of 2021, they started dating and ended up getting engaged. Bush revealed to Vogue that Grant proposed to her during golden hour while on a sightseeing trip of Lake Como on a vintage Riva boat. Bush said, “We revealed the news publicly a few days later because we’d been spotted in Puglia by a bunch of very nice Gen Z ladies and I saw them clock the band on my finger.
Inspired by his new bride, Hughes also posted an Instagram photo shortly after their wedding. Having a moment of pure happiness. And to say “I do” with our closest friends and family members at our sides in a place we adore, and to CELEBRATE as we did,” he penned. “It was indescribable; it was like floating on air; it was like turning cartwheels; it was like maximal love; it was the greatest; it was the most fun; it was the finest there ever was; it was indescribable. That’s all I can say.
On the other hand, Bush has lately taken to Instagram to applaud her spouse for his outspoken opposition to the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. She posted a heartfelt Instagram message praising her partner’s caring response, in which she said, “I’m very grateful to be marrying a man who believes in democracy, who supports a free press, and who, when the news dropped yesterday, turned to me and asked, ‘What can men be doing to best support women in these moments? How can I mobilise our group?
Later, she emphasised, “This is partnership. Grant Hughes, you have my heart. I am grateful to have a partner in everything, especially one based on mutual respect and fairness. Let’s hold on to our happiness, rely on our allies, and give them hell. Our departure is final and irrevocable.
