The debate about the origin of the new coronavirus; Listen to the podcast – 06/04/2021 – Podcasts

In recent weeks, the origin of the virus that causes Covid-19 has returned to the debate with an urgency not seen since the beginning of the pandemic.

A letter published by researchers in Science magazine and research done in the United States raises the possibility that Sars-CoV-2 came from a laboratory in Wuhan, China, rather than from an animal host in nature.

U.S. President Joe Biden last week called on the country’s intelligence services to redouble their efforts to pinpoint the origins of the coronavirus and to provide a report on it within 90 days. The explanation came after the World Health Organization (WHO) was criticized for a report denying the possibility that the pathogen accidentally escaped from a Chinese laboratory.

In this Friday episode (4), Café da Manhã listens to Folha reporter and columnist Reinaldo José Lopes. He talks about the importance of research into the origin of Sars-CoV-2 and tells what has been discovered so far.
