G7 leaders condemned Iran’s unprecedented attack on Israel

G7 leaders condemned Iran’sUS President Joe Biden recently spoke with G7 leaders regarding Iran’s attack on Israel, according to a White House statement.

The G7 leaders condemned Iran’s attack on Israel and pledged to work to help stabilize the Middle East.

The conference was attended by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, whose country presently holds the G7 chair, as well as Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and US President Joe Biden.

“We will continue to work to stabilise the situation and avoid further escalation,” the heads of the G7 countries said.

“In this spirit, we demand that Iran and its proxies cease their attacks, and we stand ready to take further measures now and in response to further destabilising initiatives.”

The leaders of the G7 pledged to intensify collaboration “to end the crisis in Gaza, including by continuing to work towards an immediate and sustainable ceasefire and the release of hostages by Hamas, and (to) deliver increased humanitarian assistance to Palestinians in need.”

EU expected to focus on Iran

Following the video conversations, European Council President Charles Michel posted on X that “we unanimously condemned Iran’s unprecedented attack against Israel”.

“We will continue to strive towards de-escalation. Ending the crisis in Gaza as soon as possible, particularly with an early ceasefire, will make a difference,” he said.

The situation in the Middle East, particularly Lebanon, is scheduled to be discussed at an informal summit of EU leaders in Brussels on Wednesday and Thursday.
