The death of Victoria Lee, a teenage MMA star, shook the fighting community. The 18-year-old was said to have died on Boxing Day. However, the news came only when her sister Angela Lee posted a tribute to her younger sister on Instagram. She stated that her younger sister Victoria, also known as ‘The Prodigy,’ died on December 26th of last year. While the cause of her death was not disclosed, Angela begged that everyone show respect and sympathy for her family during this difficult time.
Who was Victoria Lee?
Victoria Lee was born in Hawaii and raised there. “The Prodigy” was Victoria Lee’s nickname. Victoria Lee won the junior world championship in pankration, a modernized version of ancient Greek wrestling.
Angela has the ONE Championship atomweight world title. Lee’s brother has the ONE lightweight title.
On Facebook, ONE chairman Chatri Sityodtong paid heartfelt respect to Lee. “I met Victoria for the first time when she was 11 years old. I’ve seen her grow up throughout the years.
“I first met Victoria when she was 11 years old. I watched her blossom over the years as a martial artist and a human being,” Sityodtong wrote. “I always remember thinking how wise, thoughtful, and selfless she was beyond her years. Of course, she was an extraordinary martial arts prodigy even back then, but I could see that she was so much more than that.”
She claimed the young warrior had a “heart of gold and a great mind,” adding, “She looked after others before herself. She desired to utilize her life to benefit the world. Victoria will be remembered for the wonderful and sweet spirit that she was.”
Victoria’s parents, Ken and Jewelz Lee, and her 26-year-old sister Angela survive her. Christian, 24, and Adrian, 17, are her brothers, as is Angela’s 1-year-old daughter Ava, whom she shares with her husband, Bruno Pucci.
Victoria’s siblings are all MMA fighters. In 2016, Angela became the youngest person in MMA history to win a world title; Christian, on the other hand, is the reigning ONE Welterweight and ONE Lightweight World Champion. Adrian is the newest member of the family business, having won an amateur title in December 2022.
Victoria participated in the women’s atomweight division for ONE Championship throughout her career. Victoria, according to the organization, has three triumphs under her belt. In recent years, she defeated Victoria Souza in September 2021 via TKO in the second round.
