Who is Jabril Cowart? Man arrested in Houston in Shooting of comedian

Authorities announced the arrest of a suspect in connection with the murder of New Orleans comedian Brandon “Boogie B” Montrell. U. S. Jabril Cowart, 20, was detained by marshals from Houston and New Orleans on suspicion of killing Montrell in front of a grocery store in New Orleans’ central business district. Cowart was discovered in Houston and will be returned to New Orleans, where he will be charged with second-degree murder, according to New Orleans Police. It wasn’t known if he has a lawyer who could represent him in court.

Montrell was not the intended target of the gunshot, according to investigators.

His obituary states that he was buried on Thursday morning after funeral services at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home.

According to the NOPD, Cowart will be sent to New Orleans, where he will be charged with second-degree murder. There was no additional information provided.
