Before joining the Evening Standard, Sands worked as a news writer for The Sevenoaks Chronicle. He first served as the Londoner’s Diary editor before going on to positions as features editor and associate editor. In 1996, she started working as Charles Moore’s deputy editor for The Daily Telegraph. Later, she took over editorial control of the Saturday edition.
In June 2005, Sands succeeded Dominic Lawson as editor of The Sunday Telegraph.
