It’s a fantastic beginning to a filmically promising year and hopefully a sign of what moviegoers (and streamers) may expect in 2022. We’ve collected a list of every movie released in 2022 that IGN rated an 8 (“excellent”), 9 (“amazing”), or 10 to keep track of this year’s most critical new movies (“masterpiece”). So far, our roster includes a recent instalment of the Scream, The Edge Of War, The Fallout, Death On The Nile, and Uncharted.
SCREAM
A 2022 American slasher movie, Scream, was written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick and directed by Radio Silence (Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett). The Scream series’ fifth instalment is this one. Despite being a relaunch, the film is a straight sequel to Scream 4 (2011). This movie is the first instalment since Wes Craven’s death in 2015 to not be directed by him. The opening of the ending credits features a tribute to Craven. To resurrect secrets from the town’s bloody past, a new killer dons the Ghostface mask and starts targeting a group of teens 25 years after a string of grisly murdering shocked the sleepy hamlet of Woodsboro, California.
MUNISH: THE EDGE OF WAR
German-British period drama spy thriller Munich – The Edge of War is a 2021 movie that Christian Schwochow directed from a screenplay by Ben Power. It is based on Robert Harris’ 2017 book Munich. Jannis Niewöhner, George MacKay, and Jeremy Irons are starring in the movie. On October 13, 2021, the movie had its world premiere at the BFI London Film Festival. Before its January 21 2022, streaming debut, Netflix gave it a limited US theatrical premiere on January 14, 2022. A British diplomat travels to Munich during World War II, where a former classmate from Oxford works for the German government.
THE FALLOUT
American teen drama The Fallout is Megan Park’s first feature-length film, and it was written and directed by her. In the movie, Jenna Ortega plays Vada Cavell, a high school student who suffers from severe mental trauma after a school massacre. In supporting parts, the film has Maddie Ziegler, Julie Bowen, John Ortiz, Niles Fitch, Will Ropp, and Shailene Woodley. American musician and actor Finneas O’Connell wrote the soundtrack. Vada, a high school student, manages the emotional repercussions of a school tragedy. Her views on the world and interactions with her friends, relatives, and family are permanently changed.
DEATH ON THE NILE
Hercule Poirot is tasked with looking into the MurderMurder of the youngest child while on vacation on the Nile. Based on Agatha Christie’s 1937 novel of the same name, Judy Hofflund, Kevin J. Walsh, Ridley Scott, and Branagh worked together to produce it. Starring Kenneth Branagh is the director of the 2022 thriller Death on the Nile, for which Michael Green wrote the screenplay. Tom Bateman, Annette Bening, Branagh, Russell Brand, Ali Fazal, Dawn French, Gal Gadot, Armie Hammer, Rose Leslie, Emma Mackey, Sophie Okonedo, Jennifer Saunders, and Letitia Wright; the movie is a follow-up to MurderMurder on the Orient Express (2017). As Hercule Poirot and Bouc, respectively, Branagh and Bateman reprise their roles from the first movie.
UNCHARTED
The action-adventure video game series Uncharted was created by Naughty Dog and released by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The Uncharted video game series, founded by Amy Hennig, centres on a team of treasure hunters exploring different parts of the world in search of historical mysteries. The drama presents historical fiction, aspects of imagination and folklore, and fictitious people, along with authentic characteristics and events. Nathan Drake is portrayed by players in the main series and Chloe Frazer in the expansion. Street-smart, Experienced treasure hunt win “Sully” Sullivan hires Nathan Drake to find a fortune gathered by Ferdinand Magellan that the House of Moncada lost 500 years back.
I WANT YOU BACK
The release day for I Wants You Back was February 11, 2022. Jason Orley is the director of the 2022 American romantic comedy I Want You Back, written by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger. In the movie, Charlie Day and Jenny Slate play two recently dumped strangers who work together to destroy their ex-partners’ new relationships (Gina Rodriguez and Scott Eastwood). The character includes Mason Gooding, Clark Backo, and Manny Jacinto. On February 11, 2022, Amazon Studios issued it digitally. Critics gave the movie largely favourable reviews. Peter and Emma, two recently divorced thirty-somethings, work together to destroy their ex-partners’ new relationships and win them back permanently.
