In countries like Brazil, which made a terrible mistake in carrying out the pandemic, Covid-19 has made us go back in time a century or more. Strictly speaking, we had defeated infectious diseases and created a population that, in the vast majority of cases, died of chronic, long-term causes. Now, for the first time since the Spanish flu, a single disease of this type kills almost as much as cancer and cardiovascular problems.
