Poverty in Italy reaches worst level in 15 years, survey finds

The coronavirus pandemic has pushed Italy’s poverty rate to an all-time high. In 2020, the country had 5.6 million inhabitants living in absolute poverty, which is equivalent to 9.4% of the population – this is the highest value since the start of the historical series, in 2005.
