A strong earthquake of 6.8 on the Richter scale was recorded around midnight Tuesday (19) in Argentina, with an epicenter near the city of San Juan.
The earthquake had a depth of ten kilometers and its epicenter was recorded 54 kilometers southwest of the city of San Juan, near the Andes, an area where there is intense seismic activity.
The earthquake was felt in other parts of the country, including the cities of Mendoza, Cordoba and the capital, Buenos Aires, as well as in Chile.
There is still no information on casualties or structural damage caused by the earthquake. Parts of the city of San Juan have suffered power cuts.
According to the newspaper La Nacion, it is one of the most violent earthquakes in recent years in Argentina.
