The famous virtual game “The Last of Us Part 2” was voted Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2020. The result was presented virtually this Thursday (10). Of the ten nominations, the game won seven.
In addition to Game of the Year, it also won for Best Director, Best Narrative, Best Audio Design, Best Performance (Laura Bailey as Abby), Best Accessibility Innovation, and Best Action / Adventure Game.
The main characters “The Last of Us Part 2”, which was released in June of this year, are bloodthirsty killers. During the game, they kill hundreds without ceremony – after all, they live in a post-apocalyptic anarchy shaken by a dangerous pandemic.
Even before it was released, the game caused a stir among conservative gamers who were concerned that the protagonist, Ellie, is a lesbian and another woman, Abby, who, according to the scriptwriter, is “pure Muscle, a Truck” , being upset game, Halley Gross.
The cauldron completes a trans character, religious cult, and the fact that this violent post-apocalyptic world isn’t just dominated by men – women hold leadership positions and aren’t just good at fighting. In social networks, Alt-Rights called the game “the lesbian of us” and the chimera of “gender ideology” was invoked.
The game is the sequel to the award-winning “The Last of Us” from 2013, which appeared on numerous lists of the best games of the decade. The original plot follows the couple Joel and Ellie on their journey through what was once known as the United States, now devastated by a zombie fungus pandemic – the second part takes place about five years later.
