Local police in Oklahoma say that two women from a small community have mysteriously disappeared.
The two ladies were last seen driving together on Saturday. Veronica Butler, 27, and Jillian Kelley, 39, are close friends. But they never made it to where they were going.
Missing investigation
After Jilian Kelley and Veronica Butler’s car was discovered abandoned along Highway 95 and Road L south of Elkhart, Kansas, on March 30, the Texas County Sheriff’s Office asked the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation for assistance in investigating their strange disappearance. The two were en route from Hugoton, Kansas, to Oklahoma, according to court filings.
Investigators discovered, by interviewing witnesses, that Butler and her two children were involved in a “problematic custody battle” over their paternal grandmother, Tifany Adams. On March 30, Butler reached out to Kelley for assistance because the person the court had mandated oversee the visit wasn’t available, according per the court records.
According to the affidavit, Butler informed family members that she would pick up her kids on March 30 at Four Corners, which is located in Texas County at the crossroads of Highway 95 and US 64 West, at 10 a.m. On March 30, about 9:40 a.m., Butler and Kelley departed Hugoton and arrived at the crossroads, which is roughly 5 miles north of Four Corners.
4 people were arrested in connection with the case
In connection with the case of two missing women in the Oklahoma Panhandle who are currently thought to be deceased, four suspects—including the grandmother of one of the women’s children—have been taken into custody.
Four people were arrested, according to an announcement made by the OBSI on April 13. They are Tad Bert Cullum, 43, Tifany Machel Adams, 54, Cole Earl Twombly, 50, and Cora Twombly, 44. They were charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping, and first-degree conspiracy to commit murder when they were brought into the Texas County Jail.
