A three-time CrossFit Games competitor, Mayra Bandt, succumbs on 18th February to the complications of her injury. Her recent interaction with her fans includes the photo she shared on her social media of the sad news of her not participating in the 2024 CrossFit Games season due to health problems.
Mayra Brandt was a well-known figure in the CrossFit community and owner of CrossFit Delray Beach.
Who Was Mayra Brandt?
Mayra Brandt’s full name was Mayra Rodriguez Brandt. She was not only the owner of the gym and physical fitness center CrossFit Delray Beach but also of a sports and fitness instruction firm called Boca Extreme Cheer Company. She was a regular participant in the CrossFit events and also competed in different age categories.
Mayr was known for her achievements on the field. She was famous amongst her students and peers as tough but fair, funny, and always supportive of her team. Her influence on her audience extended as an inspiration through her gyms and the physical stature she had set for her students to follow.
Her last participation was at the 2022 CrossFit Games in the Masters 40–44 age group category. Her journey in 2019 was a bit tricky as she got the 24th position and missed the master’s ticket by 14 points because of her.
She had a knee injury from which she was still recovering. The following year, she qualified for the Masters 40-45 category, but the competition was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The seasoned CrossFitter came back two years later and placed 45th in the Age Group Online Qualifier. Subsequently, she also took part in Wodapalooza, Masters Fitness Collective, Legends, The Bacon Beatdown (Elite Division), and other comparable CrossFit games.
Jordan recalls Mayra as a humorous, fair-minded, and tough coach who “always did good by her team.” She went on to explain that she had always admired her “tumbling skills” and desired that “she was my coach for more than a couple of years.” She also mentioned that the time she spent with her will live on in her memories forever.
Mayra Brandt left behind a legacy of memories and lessons learned from those who knew her, encouraging others to follow their fitness objectives with zeal and tenacity.
