South Carolina Deputies Arrested – Case Of “Hoax Emergencies” 3 Arrested

Three sheriff’s deputies in South Carolina have been arrested after it was alleged that they reported a dead body in what investigators said were hoax phone calls in four small towns.

It is said that Convenience stores or nearby municipal law enforcement agencies received fictitious calls informing the caller of the “location of a ‘dead body’ within the municipalities,” according to the warrant.

According to the warrants, officers and other emergency personnel responded in each case until it was established that the claims were false.

What happened was that In the small Chesterfield County villages of Cheraw, Chesterfield, McBee, and Pageland, five phone reports regarding a dead body were placed to either the police or a convenience store on February 4.

Following the Emergencies, The three deputies — First Sgt. Justin Tyler Reichard, 28; Sgt. Darien Myles Roseau, 25, and Deputy Killian Daniel Loflin, 26 — were charged Monday with misconduct in office, criminal conspiracy, and aggravated breach of peace, SLED announced Tuesday.

“I asked the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) to look into the claims because of their nature. The Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office is completely working with SLED’s investigation, he stated in a Facebook statement. All three deputies have been suspended by the sheriff.

As to NBC News, Chesterfield County Sheriff Cambo Streater stated that he was notified last week about “possible misconduct by three of our deputies.”

The three men who were detained were referred to as “former deputies” in a statement from state agents; however, the sheriff’s office did not confirm that they had been dismissed, only suspended, last week.

Chesterfield County is about 75 miles to the northeast of Columbia. Protecting the 43,000 citizens of the county are more than 50 sworn officers in the sheriff’s office.
