Jim Dostal was the Cedar Rapids football coach and an All-America linebacker at Coe College. He was the head coach at Cedar Rapids Jefferson for nearly six seasons. He helped the J-Hawks reach the Class 4A state playoff semifinals in 1992. Both Mark Bliss and Jim Dostal were very good friends. Mark Bliss attended Cedar Rapids Prairie High School in 2015. Both of them met during a bowl game in Australia. But recently Jim Dostal left us all and said goodbye to this world. He died at the age of 59 and the cause of death has not been disclosed yet. Due to his death, his family is very sad and is feeling alone. After his death his best friend Bliss said, “Jim was my best friend.” “We knew each other for 29 years and had the opportunity to coach together at Prairie for eight years, and it was the best time we spent together. He is the highest character, most honestly driven, kindest and most hardworking person I have ever met. He will do anything for former players and coaches, helping them with all their needs.”
