Cardinals Defense Chris Banjo Declares His Departure From The NFL

Chris Banjo, an Arizona Cardinals safety, has officially announced his retirement on Twitter. This offseason, the Arizona Cardinals will lose a few players to retirement.

What Happened To Chris Banjo?

Although J.J. Watt will be the most well-known player to retire, Rodney Hudson is another player who may be considering it.

Chris Banjo eliminates the need for conjecture in that regard. He made a formal retirement announcement on Twitter on his 33rd birthday.

Banjo started his professional football journey with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2012 after leaving SMU undrafted. Before joining the Cardinals in 2019, he had stints with the New Orleans Saints and the Green Bay Packers.

In his tenure with Arizona, Banjo made just five starts, playing behind one of the league’s top safety tandems in Budda Baker and Jalen Thompson. In his four years in the desert, he did develop into a vital special teams star, with snap percentages of 80%, 48%, 76%, and 81%.

Now, Banjo is scheduled to start working as a special teams coordinator for Sean Payton’s Denver Broncos coaching staff right away. Payton used to perform with Banjo when they were together in New Orleans.
