ABC 7 reported that British actor Julian Sands, famed for A Room With A View and the Warlock films, went missing while climbing. Sands was one of two hikers reported missing last week in Los Angeles storms, authorities said today.
The family reported Sands missing Friday night. After A Room With A View, Sands went to California in the 1980s. He’s worked continuously in Hollywood since then, starring in more than 150 films and TV shows.
What happened to Julian Sands?
The Hollywood Reporter stated that Julian Sands, renowned for his appearances in A Room With a View and Warlock, was reported missing on Friday after trekking in California’s San Gabriel Mountains. Sands is famous for those flicks.
According to the authorities, Sands, a 65-year-old resident of North Hollywood, was reported missing at about 7:30 p.m. on Friday in the Baldy Bowl region of Mount Baldy. An investigation was started, but ground teams had to be evacuated from the mountain by Saturday evening owing to the danger of avalanches and the horrible path conditions caused by snow and ice.
Last week, Sands, 65, disappeared on Mt. Baldy in South California. Severe storms have impeded rescue operations. “His wife did report him missing,” a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department official said today. I believe he went hiking that day and his family reported him missing.”
Two missing hikers include Sands. This week, Bob Gregory went missing in Crystal Lake.
Storms have flooded vast swaths of Los Angeles in recent weeks. “The circumstances are very unsafe,” the SBCSD warned hikers. Even expert hikers are getting into difficulty up there, so we urge staying away.”
The search was carried out with the assistance of helicopters and drones while the conditions were favourable, and ground teams will return to work as soon as it is safe. Due to the dangerous trekking conditions in the area, the sheriff’s department, which is collaborating with the Forest Service to locate Sands, strongly recommends that folks avoid the region.
The sheriff’s department released a press statement on Wednesday stating that the circumstances had resulted in 14 rescue missions over the previous four weeks and that during that period, two hikers had tragically lost their lives due to the weather.

Sands, born in the United Kingdom, got his start in the film industry by playing supporting roles in movies such as Oxford Blues and The Killing Fields, both of which were released in 1984. After that, he was cast as the central character in James Ivory’s 1985 film, A Room With a View, in which he was paired alongside Helena Bonham Carter. The film received eight Oscar nominations, including one for best picture, and won three.
His other cinematic credits include the horror movie Warlock (1989) and its sequel, Arachnophobia (1990), as well as Naked Lunch (1991), Boxing Helena (1993), Leaving Las Vegas (1995), and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (1995), which was directed by David Fincher (2011).
His career in television includes reoccurring parts on shows such as Stargate SG-1, 24, Ghost Whisperer, Dexter, Banshee, and What/If.
In 1990, Sands wed the author Evgenia Citkowitz, and the pair was blessed with two children. Because of a prior union, he is the father of a third kid.
