Ms Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, the creator of the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) and one of the prominent figures in Nigeria’s entertainment sector, has passed away.
Before she passed away in the wee hours of Tuesday morning, it was discovered that she had been in a coma at St. Nicolas Hospital in Victoria Island, Lagos, since the previous Saturday.
The news of her passing was handled with the utmost sensitivity because Peace still has an elderly mother, according to several sources and individuals close to her family.
An ex-president of the Association of Movie Producers, Zik Zulu Okafor, said she passed away unexpectedly (AMP).
Obi Emelonye, an award-winning producer, had also commented about her passing on his social media account.
Until her passing, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe served as the Association of Movie Producers (AMP) president. She was well-respected throughout the African film business, not just in Nigeria.
According to a formal announcement made by the Nollywood giant’s family, the cerebral professional and president of AMP passed away.
How did Anyiam-Osigwe die?
It was said that Ayiam-Osigwe, the president of the Association of Movie Producers, was unconscious when she passed away.
At St. Nicholas Hospital in Lagos, she died away last night. The news of the deceased’s passing was announced on Twitter by “Last Flight to Abuja” producer Obi Emelonye, a close friend and fellow filmmaker.
He posted a picture of her and captioned it, “Thank you and good night, dada Peace.”
The revelation was further corroborated by Zik Zulu Okafor, the outgoing president of the Association of Motion Picture Producers (AMP), who said, “The story is accurate.”
Ayiam-Osigwe cause of death
Anyiam-Osigwe passed away in St. Nicholas Hospital in Lagos on January 9, 2023, after going into a coma on January 7, 2023.
“Our President, Peace, has passed away,” Zik Zulu remarked in sharing the homage. At Saint Nicholas, she was said to be in a coma as of Saturday. However, her family has now acknowledged her change. May her life’s memory be blessed. He publishes on a platform for Nollywood; therefore, rest in Peace, dear Peace.
Who was Peace Anyiam-Osigwe?
The late filmmaker, Peace Anyiam-Fiberesima, was referred to as the “queen of Nollywood films” before her brief marriage. She was the first to introduce Nollywood films to international film festivals.
She was the director of P-first Square’s music video, which was released in 2012. The African Movie Academy Awards, or AMAA, were founded by the director, a member of the prestigious Anyiam-Osigwe family from Nkwerre, Imo State. She was also one of Nollywood’s most recognisable figures and the President of the Association of Movie Producers, or AMP.
She received the national distinction of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) from the federal government in appreciation for her significant contribution to Nigeria’s entertainment sector, specifically the cinematic segment.
She became one of those who helped shape the course of the nation’s film industry due to her efforts in the business.
