Pastor Jack Hayford, a beloved friend, left for home early this morning to be with Jesus. He was a preacher, teacher, servant, and man of God. He was 88 years old. He served as my mentor and spiritual father, and I appreciate his influence on my life.
On March 8, 2017, at 83, Hayford’s nearly 60-year-old wife Anna died from pancreatic cancer. Rebecca, Jack III, Mark, and Christina were the names of the four children he and Anna had. In 2018, he wed Valarie, his second wife.
Hayford’s successor as president of ICFG, Randy Remington, notes in his eulogy: “Pastor Jack was a Kingdom ambassador whose influence transcended denominational, generational, and global borders. Jack’s dedication to Spirit-filled worship, ardent intercession, and biblical preaching that made Jesus clear was reflected in his life. He lived the life that he encouraged people into.
“Pastor Jack led a life devoted to Jesus, one in which he never wavered or wandered,” he continues.
His Pastor’s Schools and conferences helped thousands of pastors find support, inspiration, and enduring ministry ideas. Generations to follow will be inspired by and influenced by his books, music, and teachings.
Having his friendship and voice in my life as a Foursquare Pastor has always been a privilege. The conversations we had with him will always be appreciated and remembered. He delivered a yearly sermon at the church where I served as pastor in Beaverton, Oregon, for about 50 years. We kind of “retired his jersey” in our Foursquare family. Jack Hayford is unique; there will never be another.”
