The 87-year-old actor Bob Penny, a college instructor from Alabama who appeared in supporting roles in “Sweet Home Alabama” and “Forrest Gump,” has passed away.

According to AL.com, Penny was a poet who worked as an English professor for three decades, mostly instructing poetry and prose at the University of Alabama in Birmingham.
