On Tuesday, the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office issued four new murder charges against suspected serial shooter Wesley Brownlee, including one from Alameda County.
Brownlee is accused of murdering Juan Alexander Vasquez of Alameda County and Mervin Harmon, a new Alameda County victim. In addition, the DA charges Wesley with the murders of Paul Yaw and Salvador Debudey, Jr. and the attempted murder of Natasha LaTour, all of which occurred in San Joaquin County.
Wesley was not prosecuted for other crimesÂ
Although the Harmon case is fresh, Wesley was previously suspected of the four other crimes but had not been prosecuted.
The District Attorney’s Office has not explicitly commented on the additional accusations, but District Attorney Tori Verber Salazar has pledged “justice for these victims.”
Brownlee was arrested in October on charges of murdering six people. Jonathan Rodriguez, 21, Juan Carlos Carranza-Cruz, 52, and Lawrence Lopez, 54, were all killed by him.
The sole known survivor of the serial shootings is victim LaTour
Brownlee, a convicted drug offender, was forbidden from carrying a gun and reportedly used an unlicensed “ghost gun” to carry out at least part of the slayings, police claimed following his arrest in October.
Brownlee was sentenced to two years in jail in Alameda County, which includes Oakland, in January 1999 for carrying and distributing a restricted narcotic, according to the California Department of Corrections. After completing seven months, he was granted parole in August 1999.
Brownlee was convicted of the same felony again in Alameda County in December 2001 and sentenced to three years in prison. He was granted parole in May 2003 and released three years later.
