Terese L. White, a flight attendant from Dallas, Texas, pleaded guilty in federal court to a drug-trafficking charge, admitting that she used her flight attendant privileges to avoid the more stringent security screening at San Diego International Airport to smuggle fentanyl taped to her abdomen.
Flight Attendant Pleads Guilty
White stated in her plea deal that she travelled from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport in Texas to San Diego International Airport on October 4, 2022, while off-duty. White fled the airport’s security section shortly after her arrival. Later that day, before her planned trip to Boston, Massachusetts, White attempted to avoid standard security screening processes by using the Known Crew Member line. On the other hand, white was chosen for the normal passenger screening procedure.
During that screening, agents from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) discovered that White had concealed parcels strapped to her belly containing more than three pounds of fentanyl. White stated in her plea that she sought to exploit her position as a flight attendant, a part of the trust, to accomplish the conduct.
White will be sentenced before U.S. District Judge Cathy Ann Bencivengo on March 24, 2023.
U.S. Attorney Randy Grossman expressed gratitude to the prosecution team and the investigating agencies for their hard work on this case.
