The mayor of Birmingham reported that a 12-year-old girl was killed early on Wednesday morning when bullets were shot into her home. According to the Birmingham Police Department, the shooting was reported just before 2 a.m. When there was a report of someone being shot, police were called. Authorities said a 12-year-old girl was shot and died at the scene after being declared dead by firefighters. It appeared to be a drive-by shooting, according to police Sgt. Monica Law. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office was able to identify 12-year-old Audriana Pearson.
According to Mayor Randall Woodfin, Pearson was shot when she was in her bed. “Pearson was excited about her Christmas break. But someone took her life while she slept in her bed last night. She was taken from us during a drive-by, Woodfin stated on Twitter. “She was the victim of others’ reckless and willful behaviour.” Seventeen bullets were fired into the house, according to the mayor. There are no suspects in custody, according to the officials. According to Law, no additional residences appear to have been targeted in the incident.
Audriana Pearson was shot dead
Early this morning, 17 bullets were fired in a Birmingham home during a drive-by shooting, killing a sleeping child one month away from turning 13 and sleeping over with two friends.

Detectives will make every attempt to gather information, but our best work is done when we work together to find those who have harmed our children and bring them to justice.
