On Sunday, top-ranked Scottie Scheffler won his second Masters title by four strokes at Augusta National.
Scheffler, who won the green jacket in 2022, won a record $3.6 million top prize following a dramatic struggle with fellow Americans Collin Morikawa and Max Homa, as well as Sweden’s Ludvig Aberg, who made his major debut.
With the victory, Scottie Scheffler joined Tiger Woods in winning both the Masters and the Players Championship in the same season. Tiger Woods accomplished the accomplishment more than two decades ago in 2001. Tiger Woods beat David Duval at the 2001 Masters.
Scheffler won the 2024 Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass last month, despite a back issue. He achieved history by winning the competition for the second year in a row, which had not happened in 50 years. He had the lowest closing round for a champion.
Legend Tiger Woods set a Masters record this year by making the cut for the 24th time in a row. However, his third and fourth rounds did not go as planned, with him shooting 82 in the third round. On Sunday, he couldn’t have played better, shooting 77 and five over par.
Scottie Scheffler performance at Augusta National
The American golfer delivered a tremendous performance at Augusta National. He began superbly with a 6 under 66 on Thursday, followed by two solid rounds of 72 and 71. Scheffler led second-ranked Collin Morikawa by one stroke heading into the final round. Finally, he won his second green jacket with a brilliant final round of four under 68.
Scottie Scheffler remarked that he has always enjoyed competing and winning. His only resentment is for losing.
