How many people were injured?
On Friday, a stolen semi crashed into a Department of Public Safety building in Brenham, Texas, leaving one person dead and thirteen injured.
At a press conference, DPS Sgt. Justin Reese stated that the truck struck the office while it was being chased by several law enforcement cars. There, on Thursday, he said, the motorist had been refused a commercial driver’s license.
What Texas Governor said?
In a post on X, Texas Governor Greg Abbott said he and his wife are “saddened to hear of the tragic incident at the Texas Department of Public Safety office in Brenham”. “Join us in praying for the Texan who died, the injured, and their families. I appreciate the speed with which first responders responded. “Texas will hold this heinous criminal accountable.”
Parker faces many felony accusations, according to authorities.
At the news conference, Brenham Mayor Atwood Kenjura called the occurrence as “a really senseless tragedy”.
He stated that the suspect appeared to be backing up with the intention of ramming the structure a second time.
According to Reese, Parker went to the Texas DPS office in Brenham the day before the incident to renew his Commercial Driver’s License.
“While he was there, the driver’s license staff advised Parker that he was not eligible to renew his commercial driver’s license,” Reese said in a statement. The Texas Rangers are leading this criminal investigation.
