Euphoria actress Hunter Schafer: She no longer wants to play transgender roles

Hunter Schafer, an actor from Euphoria, has said that she is done doing transsexual roles.

The transgender performer, 25, gained notoriety for her portrayal of Jules Vaughn, a transgender character, in the popular adolescent drama on HBO. However, Schafer stated that by “not making it the centrepiece to what I’m doing,” she believed she could advance as an actress.

She stated: “I worked so hard to get to where I am, past these really hard points in my transition, and now I just want to be a girl and finally move on.”

The actress admitted that she was afraid talking about her transgender identity in public would overshadow her accomplishments in the industry. Thinking back to her high school activism, when she was instrumental in opposing discriminatory legislation in North Carolina, Schafer emphasized that she wanted to go beyond transgender problems in her work.

“Even though it wasn’t really what I wanted to be creating art about, I felt like I had to make my work a response to everything that was going on in North Carolina.” I believe I thought, “Oh, I’m trans.” I ought to be creating art inspired by this.

In the HBO adolescent drama series Euphoria, she made her acting debut as transgender high school student Jules Vaughn.
