The 33-year-old Jaskirat Kaur, better known as Jasmine Kang, appeared in Wolverhampton Magistrates’ Court and was accused of killing Shay Kang.
About the Incident
At approximately 12:10 p.m. on Monday, March 4, Shay was discovered injured at a residence in Robin Close, Rowley Regis, West Midlands, and was declared deceased on the spot.
Wearing jogging bottoms and a gray T-shirt, Kaur only spoke to clarify her name and birthdate. She was given an appearance date on Thursday at Wolverhampton Crown Court.
She was remanded into custody without being asked to enter a plea to the murder accusation.
Investigation of the Case
The investigation’s lead detective, Detective Inspector Dan Jarratt of West Midlands Police, stated: “Our thoughts and prayers are with Shay’s family and friends.”
“The community at large as well as individuals who knew her have been profoundly affected by her tragic passing.
“We request that they be allowed to grieve in private while we continue our investigation.”
While police investigate and a post-mortem is conducted to determine the cause of death, a cordon is still in place at the end-of-terrace property.
Shay attended Brickhouse Primary School, which honored the “bright” youngster on Tuesday by partnering with West Midlands Police.
“Shay was a bright, happy, fun-loving child who was well-liked by all,” the school stated in a statement.
