The Academy Awards, more popularly and formally known as the Oscars, are given to the best in the film industry for both creative and technical achievement.
The Award: Oscars
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which is based in Beverly Hills, California, USA, presents them once a year to honor outstanding achievements in film as determined by the Academy’s voting membership. The Oscar statuette features an Art Deco-styled knight.
It is usually held in February or March, and the major award categories are presented during a live, televised Hollywood ceremony. It is also the most established entertainment awards show in the world. In 1929, the first Academy Awards ceremony was broadcast on radio for the first time in 1930, followed by television for the first time in 1953.
It is also the oldest of the four main annual entertainment honors in the United States; the Grammy honors, the Emmy Awards for television, and the Tony Awards for theater are all based on the Academy Awards.
The presenters: Oscars
The 96th Ceremony is certainly around the corner, and fans seem to be excited about it. The presenters of the show are announced, and Oscar winners Nicolas Cage and Al Pacino, as well as Zendaya and Michelle Pfeiffer, are among the first round of presenters that were revealed on February 27.
Moreover, The four acting winners from the previous year—Brendan Fraser from “The Whale” and Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, and Jamie Lee Curtis from “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” which won Best Picture—will also be a part of making presentations.
Oscar winners Matthew McConaughey (“Dallas Buyers Club”), Lupita Nyong’o (“12 Years a Slave”), Sam Rockwell (“Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”), Jessica Lange (“Tootsie” and “Blue Sky”), and Mahershala Ali (“Moonlight” and “Green Book”) are all scheduled to perform and set to rock the awards show.
In the upcoming weeks, the producers plan to keep announcing talent that will be joining the show and gracing the occasion.
The Dolby® Theatre at Ovation Hollywood is set to host the 96th Academy Awards on Sunday, March 10, 2024. The ceremony will be broadcast live on ABC, and more than 200 countries across the world can enjoy their favorite heroes winning their much-deserved trophies.
