Jiri Suchi, a former hockey player for the Halifax Mooseheads, passed away in a car accident, the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) team announced on social media on Sunday morning.

In total, Suchy, 36, appeared in 118 games for the Mooseheads in the 2005–06 and 2006–07 seasons. During his two years with Halifax, he scored 10 goals and provided 26 assists.

After his stint in Canada, he returned to his home nation of the Czech Republic, where he played for a number of years, alternating between the first and second divisions before moving on to Slovakia and Germany.
