On the day of love, where emotions like love, care, and compassion for their near and dear ones are to be shared by people, Atlanta High School lived a day hard to forget. Four of their students who maybe were leaving their school to move on with their day’s celebration had to encounter open firing from a car on Wednesday.
The incident happened in the campus of Benjamin E. Mays High School campus parking lot.
The students were straightaway taken out of danger and hospitalized and were treated for non-life threatening injuries. The Atlanta Public Schools district said the shooting occurred shortly after dismissal.
The students did not experience any major injury and are expected to survive. Apart from that, There is no news of injuries to the school staff, students, or teachers.
“There was an officer on the scene while those shots were being fired, and he soon called for assistance in the area. Soon after the incident, the place was seen to be crowded with the APD, APS, firefighters, and medics to remove the horror of the situation and bring it back under control.
There have been no arrests made in connection with the shooting till now. Investigation has been started, and the area is under control right now. The police department, the investigating agency, has also refused to comment on anything till now.
The safety and security of our staff and students were declared as paramount and as the authority’s duties to fulfill. Following the situation, Students were also questioned after the shoot regarding the incident and were asked to give their statements.
It was reported that in the car that stopped about five miles away from the school was a 35-year-old mother, a 17-year-old girl, and another male. All three were taken to Atlanta Police headquarters for questioning.
The news regarding their questioning was that they had been cooperating with the authorities and were readily answering their questions.
All the activities of the day were canceled following the shoot.
