Samantha June Mewis is a former National American soccer player; she played for the US Squad as a midfielder. She was born on 9th October 1992 in Weymouth, Massachusetts, US, to Robert Mewis and Melissa Mewis. She retired from professional soccer on the 19th of January, 2024, at an early age of 31.

- Western New York Flash selected her fourth in the 2015 National Women’s Soccer League entry draft. On September 9, 2015, the NSWL was selected as a finalist for the NSWL Rookie of the Year Award for the year 2015 season.
- In the 2008 FIFA season, she was part of the runner-up team of under 17 or U-17 Women’s World Cup in New Zealand.
- She was named to the senior national team for the first time on January 24, 2014, and made her debut for the team at the 2014 Algarve Cup during the team’s second match of the tournament, a 1-0 loss to Sweden.
- Mewis endured a knee cartilage injury in a 2017 game against Canada and was sidelined for six months.
Personal Life
Her older sister, Kristie, also plays for the United States Women’s National Soccer Team and plays for West Ham United. In late December 2018, Mewis married her longtime boyfriend, Pat Johnson, in Boston, Massachusetts.
The United States won the 2019 FIFA World Cup, and Mewis and her team were honored with a ticker tape parade in New York City. After winning the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Mewis told her fans that when she was young her father took side jobs just to afford her and her sister’s soccer expenses.
