South African government has started a national financial student aid scheme to provide financial aid to students who want to pursue higher education. The scheme is for those students who want to continue their education and achieve success but are limited by their financial constraints. To help those students, the government brought this scheme.

The portal provides necessary information about the scheme. Students can apply for the NSFAS by creating a myNSFAS Account on the application portal, which is available at www.nsfas.org.za. Through this NSFAS portal, students can also register for a student portal account where they will be able to control academic activities. They just need to log in or create an account to do so.
It also provides the facility of an NSFAS wallet, which students can use to make purchases from NSFAS-registered retailers.

How To Apply For NSFAS Funding Online?
Applying for NSFAS funding online can be done in simple and quick steps. Just follow these steps:-
- Access the NSFAS application portal
- Click on ‘myNSFAS’ tab
- Create ‘myNSFAS’ account
- Select the ‘apply’ tab and fill in the sections on the screen
- Upload the documents required as asked
- Then, preview it carefully and submit it.
Your NSFAS funding application has been submitted.
How To Create Your NSFAS Login Account?
Students need to create their NSFAS login account to access their NSFAS funding. To do so, follow these steps:-
- Go to www.nsfas.org.za and select MyNSFAS portal login
- Click on myNSFAS tab
- Tap register
- Tick mark the box to allow NSFAS to verify the details
- Put the ID number as printed on your ID document
- Write your full name and surname.
- Provide your current email address.
- Click on Confirm
- Enter phone number
- Create a password and confirm it
- Upload ID copy
- Click on register
- An SMS or mail will be sent to the phone number and the email address which you provided.
- Enter the code received
- Click on submit
Your NSFAS account was registered successfully.

How To Check Your NSFAS Application Status Online?
In order to check the NSFAS application status to know if you have been selected for the scheme or not, follow these simple steps:–
- Go to www.nsfas.org.za
- Look for the “MyNSFAS” page, then enter your username and password to log in.
- Log into your current myNSFAS account
- Select the “Track Funding Progress” or ‘Check your Funding Status’ link
- Some more details may be requested from you, like your application reference number.
