His position was a Inside forward and left winger. Mario Zagallo was the last surviving member of the World Cup-winning team that played the 1958 World Cup final. He made an important contribution in winning four consecutive World Cups from 1950 to 1962. He also played the role of a leading coach well. It was told by his family that he had to face a lot of health related problems in his life. In 2014, he had a back infection, after which he spent 12 days in the hospital. In July 2022, he contracted a respiratory infection, due to which he spent a few days in the hospital. On August 2023, he was hospitalized for 22 days due to urinary infection. But recently, on January 5, 2024, he died in the hospital after some time and said goodbye to this world leaving us all.
A statement by his family on his official Instagram account said, “With immense sadness, we inform you of the death of our four-time world champion Mario Jorge Lobo Zagallo.”
