Gregory Reid Wiseman, an accomplished American astronaut, engineer, and military aviator, was born on November 11, 1975. Wiseman was chosen to join NASA’s Astronaut Group 20 in June 2009, and he became a qualified astronaut in 2011.
Since June 2017, he has worked as the Deputy Chief of the Astronaut Office, reporting to Chief Astronaut Patrick Forrester. He received a promotion to Chief of the Astronaut Office at NASA on December 18, 2020, and he held that post there until November 14, 2022.
A flight mechanic for Expedition 41 of the International Space Station and a NASA astronaut. In May 2011, he finished his training to be an astronaut candidate.
Prior To Fame
He graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York with a Bachelor of Science in computer and systems engineering, and later attended Johns Hopkins University to obtain a Master of Science in systems engineering.
His impressive career started as a Naval Aviator and test pilot before he joined NASA. As a member of the Expedition 40/41 crew, which launched to the International Space Station on May 28, 2014, and returned on November 10, 2014, he took part in his first spaceflight.
He studied computer and systems engineering and graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a degree in that field. Later, in 2006, he graduated with a master’s in systems engineering from Baltimore’s Johns Hopkins University.
Who Is Reid Wiseman’s Wife?
Prior to his current marriage, Reid Wiseman was married to Carroll Taylor, with whom he had two children. Carroll unfortunately lost his battle with illness in May 2020 at the age of 46. At the time of their mother’s passing, the couple’s girls were just teenagers, and Wiseman has made public comments about the profound effect Carroll’s loss had on his family and his own perspective on life.
