Lance Kerwin Dead, the ‘Salem’s Lot’ actor, died at the age of 62

It was reported by Lance Kerwin’s talent agent, John Boitano, that the actor, best known for his appearances in the 1970s TV miniseries “Salem’s Lot,” had passed away. He was 62. The details of his passing away were not disclosed.

How was Lance Kerwin Began?

Kerwin began his career in television series such as “Little House on the Prairie,” “Wonder Woman,” and “The Bionic Woman.” He also participated in many “ABC After School Specials,” an anthology series geared at youngsters and teens that also featured Jodie Foster.

Throughout the 1970s, the Southern California native was a prominent young actor. He appeared as Ramey Holvak in “The Family Holvak,” a TV series about a priest attempting to feed his family in the 1930s. He also appeared in the 1977 coming-of-age drama “James at 15,” which was renowned for its honest representation of juvenile life in a way that was uncommon on television at the time.

Kerwin later appeared in “Salem’s Lot,” Tobe Hooper’s 1979 TV version of Stephen King’s novel. In the CBS miniseries, he portrayed young Mark Petrie, who helps protect his community against wicked vampires. His work on the cult-favourite miniseries won him invitations to horror events every month.

His final professional credit was in the 1995 film “Outbreak,” which he reprised in the 2022 film “The Wind and the Reckoning,” starring Johnathon Schaech.

Kerwin Career

Kerwin told the local North Carolina newspaper, The Robesonian, in 1978 that he had been training for acting stardom since he was eight. His participation in the show confirmed him as a talent to watch. He remembered reading plays after school, performing them in front of his parents, and writing a letter to his idol Clint Eastwood.

Kerwin, a superb flute and piccolo player, had said in the message, “if you ever need a youngster like me, please give me a call,” the station stated.

At 15, Kerwin had his acting debut on the television show, James, leading to his casting as Mark Petrie in the 1979 miniseries Salem’s Lot, adapted from Stephen King’s 1975 novel of the same name.

“One of the reasons they liked me for the position was because when I walked in, I had ideas,” Kerwin said in 2019 to The College Crowd Digs Me. “I wasn’t required to audition, but I did come in and meet with them. And we’d chat about the character and the movie.”

Kerwin Achievements 

Kerwin, who participated in the 2022 film The Wind and the Reckoning, reflected on his time in the spotlight, saying that his experience as a child actor “was a great one.”

“I gained a work ethic. The exposure to many cultures, “He stated. “It was a magical, magical upbringing. And it was a fantastic career. It’s probably been 20…25 years. And the concerts I was a part of, and the people I worked with…I still remember them.”

In the year 2000, he married his wife, Yvonne. According to Variety, he is survived by his children Savanah, Fox, Terah, Kailani, and Justus.
