Richard Philip “Rick” Edwards, an English television host, journalist, and author, was born on May 20, 1979. For four years, Edwards hosted T4, in addition to Tool Academy, Freshly Squeezed, E4 Music, and a large portion of Channel 4’s 2012 Paralympic Games programming. Edwards also served as the anchor of the Fighting Talk radio programme on BBC Radio 5 Live. He has written for The Observer, The Evening Standard, and HuffPost as a journalist. He presented the BBC quiz show Impossible from 2017 to 2021, and he has co-hosted the BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast Show since November 2021 (following Nicky Campbell), typically with Rachel Burden.

Edwards was born in Enfield on May 20, 1979 to Philip G. Edwards and his wife Patricia A. née Galloway. He attended Portsmouth Grammar School and later went to Pembroke College, Cambridge, where he initially studied mathematics before moving to mathematics after his first year of natural sciences . He did stand-up and sketch performances during his time in college.

Edwards said he has a very poor sense of smell from smelling pure ammonia while at school. Edwards supported the environmental organization Global Cool in 2010 as part of their Traincation campaign, along with his friend George Lamb.

In 2016, Edwards wed actress Emer Kenny from Father Brown and EastEnders.

As a screenwriter, his original film Burger Van Champion was commissioned as part of C4’s film Coming Up in 2013 and was described by The Observer as “a stunning debut” and by Time Out as “funny, heartwarming [and] superbly written.” . .

In July 2015, Edwards began presenting the ITV2 panel show Safeword, returning for a second series in 2016.

Edwards currently hosts the Science(ish) podcast with Dr. Michael Brooks, which explores the science behind popular movies. Atlantic hired the team to create a book with the same title, Science(ish): The Peculiar Science Behind The Movies, which was published in October 2017 and rated first in physics, cosmology, and humour. The series was such a success. Essays remained on the Amazon chart for several weeks and peaked at number 21 on the overall book chart. The podcast itself has topped iTunes science and medical charts.

Together with Bec Hill, Edwards secured the anchor position in Sky’s DC fancast in March 2016.He says it’s a real highlight of his career. In January 2017, Edwards began presenting! “Impossible,” a daytime quiz show on BBC One. In March 2019, Edwards co-starred with YouTuber and river hunter Beau Ouimette in the History miniseries River Hunters.

Edwards was appointed by BBC Radio 5 Live in September 2021 to co-host its new breakfast programme with Rachel Burden. The new look of 5 Live Breakfast took place on November 8, 2021 after Nicky Campbell moved into a slot earlier in the day.
