Georgia’s ATHENS The university stated in a statement that Georgia football player Devin Willock and a recruiting team member were murdered in an automobile accident in Athens early on Sunday morning.
Willock, a sophomore from New Milford, New Jersey, who is still on his redshirt, started two games on the offensive line last year. According to the university, Chandler LeCroy, a recruiting team member, was also killed.

How did Devin Willock die?
On Sunday morning in Athens, Georgia, a car accident claimed the life of Georgia offensive lineman Devin Willock. Two other program-related passengers, according to the school, were hurt. Twenty years old was Willock.

According to the officials, the crash on Barnett Shoals Road happened around 2:45 in the morning. Reports state that a 2021 Ford Expedition was driving south in the outside lane of the street when it veered off the tarmac and struck numerous trees and two power lines. Willock died there, while LeCroy passed away at the hospital.
A second accident involved two additional UGA football players. According to the police, McClendon, 21, and a female passenger, 26, both sustained minor wounds. It’s still being looked into.

Who was Devin Willock?
The 20-year-old Willock participated in every game this season and started at right guard against Tennessee and Kentucky. He was a sophomore redshirt at Paramus Catholic High School from New Milford, New Jersey. He redshirted his first season at Georgia in 2020 and participated in 13 games as a backup in 2021.
After Georgia’s victory over TCU on Monday, he participated in the parade held in Athens on Saturday to celebrate the Bulldogs’ back-to-back title wins.
The offensive line’s backup during the entire season was Willock, a sophomore from New Jersey with a redshirt. Despite playing in every game, he only made two starts for the Bulldogs this season. When the Bulldogs defeated Tennessee and Kentucky, 6’7″, 335-pound Willock started at right guard. During the team’s previous season, he participated in each of its 15 games. He has rated the 39th-best guard prospect in the country and the 17th-best prospect in New Jersey by ESPN Recruiting in 2020 as a senior at Paramus Catholic High School.
