Who was Logan Holgate?
“Star of the future” was the description given to Logan Holgate. In 2021, he made his first impression. In a victory over Wales at Colwyn Bay, he made his Lions debut for the Under 16s.
When the England Community Lions under-19s were chosen last year, Logan Holgate was on Salford’s under-18 pathway.
Due to his improving club play, it took him only a short time to become firmly entrenched in the Under 19s selectors’ plans. He first shone in trials before making the final touring squad that created history in Italy last September.
Logan impressed colleagues and staff with his work ethic, contagious excitement, and quick wit throughout Italy’s rigorous six-game qualification day. Logan was practically inactive throughout the event.
He performed admirably in the semifinal and championship games, helping the Lions defeat Wales and France to claim the Under 19 European Championship for the first time.
“A great young man and teammate, he leaves a lasting imprint on the programme and personnel. We pray for and think of his family and friends during this sad time.
The shocking news of Holgate’s abrupt death has prompted a response from the rugby league world.
