Uchechukwu “Uche” Nwaneri, a former offensive guard for the Jacksonville Jaguars who attended high school and lived most of his life in North Texas before being signed by the Dallas Cowboys for a brief period, passed away on December 1. 30, 2022, from a seizure he had while in his wife’s house. According to a story in the Lafayette Journal and Courier, Nwaneri was at his wife’s home in West Lafayette, Indiana, when she discovered him unconscious in a bedroom at approximately one in the morning. Nwaneri was born and raised in North Texas, where he later graduated from Naaman Forest High School in Garland and played college football at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.
He was selected in the 2007 5th round of NFL Draft and played for the Jaguars for seven seasons, missing just one game in his final six seasons. Nwaneri started 92 of the 104 NFL games in which he participated, according to NBC Sports.
Nwaneri signed a short-term contract with the Dallas Cowboys in the summer of 2014, however after training with the club all through the preseason, he was not chosen to start for the team.
