City officials in Enoch, a small community of roughly 8000 people located 394 kilometres south of Salt Lake City, released a statement saying that the victims were discovered. At the same time, police performed a welfare check at the property.
According to the police, there was no public threat found.
According to Rob Dotson, the city manager of Enoch, the eight bodies shocked the community, and the dead, who were all members of one family, were well-known in the town in southern Utah.
In a video message on Thursday afternoon, Dotson said, Many of us have interacted with them at church, in the neighbourhood, and at school.
“At the moment, this community is in pain. They are in sorrow, experiencing loss, and have many questions “Dotson continued, stressing that authorities intended to reveal additional details as they become available and the police investigation developed.
“We won’t know the mindsets, the thoughts of the people who suffered this catastrophe, but we can all pray that their families and the neighbours and everybody will come to an understanding of what transpired in this location, perhaps in a day or two, or maybe longer,” added Dotson, choking up sometimes.
Southern Utah Shooting: Explained
Utah Home Shooting: According to Enoch officials, the incident was found during a police welfare check.
Five of the eight family members discovered dead from gunshot wounds on Wednesday in residence in southern Utah were children. They didn’t provide additional details or make assumptions about the killings’ motivation.
The fatalities were discovered following a welfare check by the police at the property; on Wednesday, eight family members—five children—were found at a residence in southern Utah with gunshot wounds. Police stated that they had not discovered any proof of a public threat.
Who were the victims?
The eight bodies, all members of one family, horrified the neighbourhood, according to Rob Dotson, the city manager of Enoch. He also noted that the deceased was well-known in the small southern Utah community.
Many of us have collaborated with them in the church, the neighbourhood, and while attending school, according to Dotson, who made this claim in a video statement on Wednesday night.
This neighbourhood is suffering right now. They’re hurting, grieving, and have a lot of questions,” Dotson stated, emphasising that officials planned to provide more information as it became available as the police investigation progressed.
Dotson briefly broke down in tears as he said, “We won’t know the mindsets, the thoughts of the people who suffered this tragedy, but we can all pray that their families and the neighbours and everyone will come to an understanding of what transpired in this location, possibly in a few days or even longer.”
Ongoing Investigation
The only thing the authorities said was that there was no threat to the public; they did not give a reason for the shooting. The incident occurred in a city with 8,000 residents south of Salt Lake City.
The New York Times cited city officials saying, “At this time, we do not believe that the public is in danger or that any suspects are still at large.” They further stated that the inquiry is still ongoing.
A man who works at a nearby venue for the event claimed that because the victims attended the same church as him, he was familiar with them. “Simply put, we’re shocked and heartbroken. He said, “The people here are kind to one another. There are still questions about the shooting.
