Police have detained a suspect in connection with the murders, Bryan Christopher Kohberger, more than six weeks after four college students were killed at an off-campus home in Moscow, Idaho.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the 28-year-old was apprehended on a warrant for a fugitive from justice. The Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Idaho State Authorities, and the Moscow Police Department were all involved in the capture, according to the police. Kohberger was apprehended at his parents’ Albrightsville, Pennsylvania, house, a law enforcement source informed CBS News.
After making an appearance before a Pennsylvania court on Friday, Kohberger was remanded without bond to the Monroe County Correctional Facility, where he is currently awaiting extradition to Idaho, according to the police.
Bill Thompson, the Latah County prosecutor, announced at a press conference on Friday that Kohberger is accused of four counts of first-degree murder and felony burglary.

Kohberger’s study, which looked at how “emotions and psychological qualities influence decision-making when committing a crime,” included a call for assistance posted on social media.

Investigation Overview
The odd deaths left the little college town of 25,000 badly shocked, first perplexed investigators.
The four students were attacked in their sleep between three and four in the morning with a sizeable fixed-bladed knife, the coroner and police suspect, and each was stabbed repeatedly in the torso.
Two female roommates on the ground floor who were still alive appeared to have slept through the horrifying assault.
Officials said that when the roommates called friends to the house just before noon, they believed one of the victims on the second floor had passed out.
The cops responded to a 911 call about an unconscious person made by one of the housemates at 11:58 a.m. Police officers sent to the scene found the four deceased victims on the second and third floors.

Goncalves and Mogen walked to the Corner Club, a downtown bar, at 1:40 a.m. and ordered meals from the Grub Truck there.

Kernodle and her boyfriend Chapin returned to their King Road apartment at 1:45 a.m. after leaving for a party at the campus Sigma Chi house.
According to the Moscow Police Department, which works with the FBI and the Idaho State Police, the attacks were “targeted.”
The investigation focused on identifying the occupant(s) of a white 2011–2013 Hyundai Elantra that was spotted near the house during the killings.
First-year students from Chapin, Washington, and Mount Vernon joined the Sigma Chi fraternity. According to the university, he declared a major in recreation, sport, and tourism management.
Idaho Victims
The four victims in an alleged quadruple homicide at the University of Idaho have been named by police as Maddie Mogen, Ethan Chapin, Xana Kernodle, and Kaylee Goncalves.
Junior marketing major and Pi Beta Phi sorority member Kernodle was Chapin’s girlfriend. She was an Avondale, Arizona, native.
The institution stated that Mogen was a senior from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, majoring in marketing and a part of the sorority Pi Beta Phi.
Goncalves was an Alpha Phi sorority member from Rathdrum, Idaho, and a senior majoring in general studies.
After graduating in early December, she had intended to move to Austin, Texas, where she had a job in marketing.
