Who was Big Scarr?

Big Scarr has been making waves in Memphis’ underground rap scene since 2017, when he released his first track, “Grim”, before signing with Gucci Mane’s label in 2020. Giant Grim Reaper, his debut mixtape, was released in 2021 and showcased his lyrical brilliance and compositional talent. Pooh Shiesty, Foogiano, Tay Keith, NoCap, and Moneybagg Yo made cameos, and 808 Mafia and Young Kio produced them, among others.

Big Grim Reaper’s success landed him a position on XXL Magazine’s Freshman Class list this month, with other up-and-coming rappers like Lil Durk, Rod Wave, and NLE Choppa. Big Scarr has also been on Gucci Mane’s album Woptober II, Foogiano’s Trap Holiday 2 and Pooh Shiesty’s Shiesty Season mixtape. He just worked with DJ Paul on a song called “Big Lats,” which will be released later this year.

We will never know what else this fantastic rapper had in store for us because he died suddenly on Thursday, December 22nd, 2022, at the age of 22. The exact cause of death has yet to be confirmed. It is possible, though, that it was caused by a drug overdose.

Big Scarr was a rising rapper who had made a name for himself in the rap scene. He toured the country, displaying creative skills that garnered him a devoted following.
