Democratic US Senator Raphael Warnock defeated Trump challenger Herschel Walker in a crucial runoff election in Georgia on Tuesday. Warnock said in his speech to cheering fans:
“After a tough campaign – or should I say campaigns – it is an honor for me to utter the four most powerful words ever spoken in a democracy: The people spoke,”
Warnock, his state’s first black senator, said, “I often say that a voice is a kind of prayer for the world we desire for ourselves and our children,” Georgia, you prayed with your lips and yours legs, your hands and feet, heads and hearts. You’ve worked hard and we’re united here.”
While former soccer star Herschel Walker said after his loss that he would never stop fighting for Georgia. The 60-year-old Republican challenger told his supporters:
“There are no excuses in life and I’m not going to make excuses now because we had a big fight,” but the reason for Walker’s defeat is said to be repeated mistakes and accusations from his ex-girlfriends.
