NZ Musician, Hamish Kilgour found dead after missing

In 1978, Kilgour co-founded the Dunedin band The Clean, which became popular on the Flying Nun label. In 1978, Kilgour and his brother David created The Clean in Duned. They are considered pioneers of the jangly “Dunedin sound” in the indie-pop genre.

The Clean pioneered indie rock and independent music. The group’s debut single, “Tally Ho!,” was released in 1981 and added to the label’s notoriety. The trio comprised the Kilgour brothers and future Bats bassist Robert Scott. Everyone participated in the process of songwriting.

Before a more permanent split in 1982, the band issued two EPs, Boodle Boodle Boodle and Great Sounds Great, as well as a single, “Getting Older.”

Before reverting to the Clean identity in the late 1980s and reuniting for a tour and live EP, the brothers performed as the Great Unwashed.

Albums released by the Clean

Vehicle, the first full-length album by The Clean, was released following their reunion tour in 1990. Hamish went to New York City after the release of Vehicle and co-founded the Mad Scene with Lisa Siegel.

Eighteen months into their first iteration, the band established a pattern of on-again, off-again activity that would continue throughout their unorthodox history. Their initial 7″ single was published in 1992, and their debut album, Sealight, was released in 1995.

In the years that followed, Clean had several breakups and reunions, typically followed by the release of a full-length. Yo La Tengo’s albums Modern Rock (1994), Unknown Country (1996), and Getaway (2001) all featured contributions from ardent fans Georgia Hubley and Ira Kaplan. Pavement, Galaxie 500, and Guided by Voices represent a unique American band generation.

Merge, an American indie label founded by Mac McCaughan and Laura Ballance of Superchunk published the album Getaway; Georgia Hubley and Ira Kaplan of Yo La Tengo had guest appearances on the tracks “Alpine Madness” and “Circle Canyon.”

2003’s Anthology, a career-spanning album published by Flying Nun and Merge, was followed by the Clean’s brand new studio album, Mister Pop, in 2009. The band’s final full-length album, Mister Pop, was released in 2009. They would continue until the 2012 release of Blip by Sonic Boom.

Hamish Kilgour Cause of death

Hamish Kilgour, a musician from New Zealand who had been reported missing since November 27, has gone. According to his relatives, he was last seen in a Christchurch retail centre. Hamish Kilgour’s cause of death has not been made public, though.
