A quarterback for the Iowa Hawkeyes in American football, Cade McNamara was born on May 28, 2000. The 2021 Michigan Wolverines team that defeated Ohio State, won the Big Ten title, and participated in the College Football Playoff had McNamara as its starting quarterback. After week 2 of the 2022 season, McNamara lost his starting quarterback position with the Wolverines to JJ McCarthy. In week three against UConn, McNamara then sustained an injury that would terminate his season. McNamara decided to move to the University of Iowa on December 1st after the 2022 regular season ended on November 28. He then entered the NCAA Transfer Portal.
Initially committing to play for Notre Dame, McNamara was considered to be the top football talent in Nevada. He revoked his pledge in February 2018 and declared his intention to play for Michigan the following month. In addition to Michigan, McNamara had offers from Alabama, Georgia, and USC. He attributed his decision to Michigan’s head coach Jim Harbaugh. Because he graduated from high school in December 2018, he was able to enrol in Michigan early in January 2019.
