Singer and actress Olivia Rodrigo, 18, will visit US President Joe Biden and infectious disease specialist Dr Anthony Fauci at the White House this Wednesday (14) to shoot videos to encourage young people to get vaccinated against Covid-19.

The visit is part of the Biden administration’s efforts to convince more young people to get vaccinated against the coronavirus as cases increase across the country.

The Delta variant, which is becoming prevalent in many countries, is spread more easily than previous versions of the coronavirus and can cause more serious illness, especially in young people. It has been found in all states of the United States, officials said.

Rodrigo is known for his musical hits such as “Deja Vu”, “Drivers License” and “Good 4 U” and for having played in the Disney + series “High School Musical: The Musical – The Series”.

“The Biden-Harris government is making continued efforts to immunize more young people, including working with schools, pediatricians, summer camps and recruiting influencers and celebrities on social media,” said an official at the White House.

Young adults get vaccinated at much lower rates than older adults, according to a June report from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
