Brazil will be represented in the possession of Joe Biden as the 46th President of the United States. At least in the voice of Anitta, 27. The song “Make It Hot”, in which she collaborated with the Major Lazer trio, is on the official song list for the event, scheduled for Wednesday (20).
The playlist was released by the committee dealing with possession of Biden and Kamala Harris, his deputy. In addition to Anitta, there are songs from names like Beyoncé, Dua Lipa, Bob Marley, Led Zepellin, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, SZA and Vampire Weekend, among others.
In total, there are 46 songs. According to Rolling Stone magazine, among them are the songs that will be played when the chosen ones are called on stage. In Biden’s case, it will be the song “We Take Care of Our Own”, by Bruce Springsteen.
Meanwhile, Kamala will appear with “Work That” by Mary J. Blige. First Lady Jill Biden and Vice President’s husband Doug Emhoff will enter with “You Make My Dreams,” by Hall and Oates, and “You Get What You Give,” by New Radicals, respectively.
“These songs and artists reflect the relentless spirit and rich diversity of America,” said Tony Allen, chairman of the inauguration committee, in a statement. “They are the score of a new chapter and will help bring people together as the Biden-Harris government begins its important work to unite our country.”
“During a tumultuous year that has separated so many loved ones, music has been a constant driver that has kept us connected,” he said. “Whether you are a country lover, jazz enthusiast, hip-hop enthusiast, classic guy or just old rock & roll, music clarifies, inspires, unites and heals.”
In addition to the playlist, it has already been announced that Lady Gaga will sing the national anthem and that Jennifer Lopez will do a musical performance during the event.
