Japanese company Nintendo announced on Thursday (5) a 243.6% increase in profits for the first half of the fiscal year. This is a spectacular result that was helped by the sale of the Nintendo Switch game console during the restriction caused by Covid-19.
The electronic games sector was one of the most popular during the months of imprisonment when people stayed in their homes and discovered some form of entertainment in these products during a difficult time.
Between March and September Nintendo made a profit of USD 2 billion (R $ 11.2 billion). Sales increased by 73.3% to 7.37 billion USD (41.3 billion R $).
According to the results, Nintendo improved its guidance for the fiscal year ending March 2021 and expects net income of USD 2.87 billion (R $ 16.1 billion).
The company also believes annual sales should reach $ 13.4 billion (R $ 75.2 billion) compared to $ 11.5 billion (R $ 64.5 billion) from previous estimates.
The good results were due to the sale of the Switch and the game “Animal Crossing” released in March. Nintendo is expected to compete in the final months of the fiscal year with the launch of competing companies’ new consoles, Sony’s PlayStation 5 and Microsoft’s Xbox Series X, in November.
